Tulgeen Twilight Cricket Presentation Night

Tulgeen Twilight Cricket has just completed their 9th season of playing cricket this year and held their annual presentation awards night recently in the Hilton Room at Insync. The awards night is always an eagerly anticipated event for our cricketers following the completion of the season’s matches. The athletes enjoyed drinks and nibblies while mingling with their teammates, parents, volunteers, carers and guests.

The awards and trophy presentation followed and was an opportunity to celebrate the sporting achievements of all of the team and enjoy some of the lighter moments of the season via some carefully constructed and ever popular “novelty awards” of which the Biggest Dummy Spit Award was conspicuously and some might even say, miraculously absent for the very first time this year.

It was very encouraging to see a former Biggest Dummy Spit Award winner (Ashley Irvin) take out the major Stephanie Dyson Perpetual Trophy for playing cricket in the true spirit of the game. Congratulations Ashley!

Other major award winners were Gavin Irvin who dominated by picking up  all three bowling awards and Chris Fulljames who won the batting average and aggregate trophies.

Ashley Irvin took the Classic Catch and Sean Cousins won the Allrounder of the Year Award and Best Fielder Trophies.

Corni Moon was the Most Improved player trophy winner this year. This award will be renamed the Susan Harrison Memorial Trophy in memory of our former team member who sadly passed away late last year after a year long battle with cancer. This announcement was greeted with approval via  a warm round of applause from  all present.

Special thanks go to our Executive Officer Peter Gorton who agreed to present the trophies on the night and did so with much aplomb. All of our cricketers received an award and we would like to congratulate them on a great season of cricket and look forward to the return of daylight saving that will herald the commencement of the new cricket season.

Tulgeen a Transition to Work Program Provider

Tulgeen Disability Services is very pleased to announce that we have successfully applied to Family and Community Services to become a Transition to Work Program (TWP) Provider in the Southern NSW District.  This program enables young people leaving formal education to seek funded support to participate in a 2 year program that provides life/work skills, and work experiences that best sets these clients up to succeed in either ongoing TAFE studies, open or supported employment.  This initiative will now be proactively marketed by the INSYNC team to all Bega Valley Shire High Schools and Colleges in tandem with a planning phase.  A big thanks the INSYNC team for their ongoing enthusiasm and motivation as we seek to establish this additional program into our expanding repertoire  of services that we offer clients.

Morning Tea For Kristina Walker

Morning tea for Kristina Walker

Stitches and Print staff and Supported Employees held a morning tea this week in honour of Kristina Walker.

Kristina’s volunteering efforts in S&P over the past year have significantly assisted S&P to establish a line of products with a cottage industry flavour.

In particular we are most grateful for the many hours she has spent with Sherrie and Annie teaching and encouraging them on a new sewing machine that embroiders to create beautiful items for sale.

Kristina received a small gift as a token of our appreciation and we look forward to continuing to enjoy her wonderful generosity in the future!
