WIN Television visits Tulgeen

Another great day at Tulgeen! WIN Television came to visit to talk about how much our clients enjoy supported employment.

Reporter Jake and cameraman Michael prepared stories about Tulgeen’s Stitches and Prints and Riverside Nursery and the work we do for our community.

Special thank you to our supported employees, Jenny from Stitches and Prints and Stephen from Riverside Nursery who were fantastic ambassadors for Tulgeen.

We will let you know when the story will air on WIN News.

Do you need help understanding the NDIS?

reimagine is a new free online resource designed to help people gain confidence navigating the NDIS and understand how it can support mental health recovery aspirations. The online tool is designed to be a one-stop-shop that not only provides information about the NDIS, but can be used as a side-by-side conversation and planning tool.

Designed to help people living with mental health conditions, families, carers and service providers work better together, reimagine:

  • outlines the steps and processes required to apply for NDIS funding
  • explains the language of the NDIS including psychosocial disability
  •  helps you prepare your access request through interactive activities
  • helps you identify goals and aspirations to support you in the planning process
  • provides hints and tips from people who have been there

Joy and Pauline haircuts

Check out Joy and Pauline who have had a mini-makeover! Both ladies got haircuts simultaneously and had a great time at Value Cutz and Colour in Merimbula.

Joy was encouraged to pay for her own haircut at the end which supported her independence.

Looking good ladies

Tulgeen’s 40th Birthday Celebration

We celebrated our 40th birthday with more than 100 clients, carers, board members past and present, and local council and business identities yesterday.

Mayor Kristy McBain helped mark the 40th birthday celebration at the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre by describing Tulgeen as “a real strength of our shire” and even a reason people moved to the region.

Tulgeen CEO Jen Russell said “This occasion is very special and important to our clients, as many have been clients with us since the beginning.  I must also acknowledge how wonderfully supportive our local community is, we should be very proud of how inclusive the Bega community is.”

Jen Russell said “With an innovative and progressive team of staff and volunteers, we develop new initiatives to meet increasing demand, with energy, passion and committment. The implementation of the NDIS combined with our deep roots in the Bega Valley community are paving the way for a bright future for Tulgeen.”

Special O Group

Tulgeen clients that are part of “The Special O Group” went to Canberra last weekend and played Ten Pin Bowling. There were smiles all round, as you can see in these photos

Special thanks to volunteers Kathy Porteous and Joe Stewart for making this happen.

Our community is greater for their efforts.

It is National Volunteer Week. This week, we celebrate and give thanks to the generous contribution of our volunteers. Tulgeen volunteers are a core part of our organisation. For this, we are very grateful. Volunteers enrich and enable many peoples lives on a daily basis. Thank you.
