Tulgeen produce bags available at Coles

Numerous reports have been made about the massive loads of waste plastic contaminating our oceans and environment. In fact, according to the ABC’s War on Waste Program, our waste is growing at double the rate of our population with over 52 mega tonnes generated each year. Tulgeen’s Social Enterprise, Stitches and Prints is working hard towards a solution.

Tulgeen provides people with disability an opportunity to work in paid, meaningful employment. Supported employees at Tulgeen make produce bags for use and resuse. Made of a fine mesh with a drawstring cord, these produce bags are available for purchase at Coles in Bega.

With the major supermarkets phasing out plastic bags by 2018, Tulgeen has responded to the opportunity in the market. The bags are priced at $14.99 for five mesh bags and include a calico holder.

Through purchasing these bags, you are directly supporting the work Tulgeen does with people with disability.

The new products are only one part of an expansion of the Social Enterprises operated by Tulgeen, and we are seeking new employees to fulfil a variety of roles over the next few months. If you or a friend are interested in discussing possibilities of supported or open employment, please contact Dave at dave.akehurst@tulgeen.com.au or call 6499 0800.
